Christopher Dameron, Architect, Landscape Designer
Christopher was born in Danville, Virginia. He spent his childhood exploring construction sites while his grandfather built houses, walking trails in piedmont forests, and making collaborative art with friends. He inherited a do-it-yourself mentality, inspired by the spirit of the region.
Christopher spent his college and early working years in Virginia. In addition to architectural design, his life as a creator was formed by participation in theater, music and the visual arts. He moved to New York in 2002, where he continued to work, attended graduate school and became fascinated with the city. Christopher worked with other architects on a range of community-centric projects and saw untapped architectural possibilities all around him. He began to view architecture as a lifelong responsibility to question and enhance our relationship with the natural world.
Christopher founded Dameron Architecture in 2009, creating a company fueled by his ethical and environmental goals. His design process is driven by each client’s agenda and his own unconventional thinking. Christopher believes in the art of conversation and that all worthwhile pursuits begin with engaged learning and listening. His recent work focuses on adaptive reuse and nurturing the relationship between wildlife and architecture. Christopher lives with his family in Brooklyn and tends a rooftop garden of flowering perennials.
People tend to like Christopher's work. It has been featured in many well-read international publications. He has won various architectural awards over the years. He doesn't hang them on the wall but is happy to talk about them if you ask him.
